How to Create a Poker Run with a Friend

If you love driving your car, why not make a game out of it? A poker run, for instance, can be a great way to spend an afternoon with a group of friends. Those participating will all need a car each and of course, you will need some playing cards. Put these together with a bit of forward planning and you can create yourself a great game.

The basic premise of a poker run is that two or more teams travel around a location in their car, collecting poker cards at various pre-ordained stops along the way. Once the player has collected a full hand, they then head back to the meeting spot where they play a round of poker using the cards that they have collected.

To organise the run, you will need to work with your friend to plan a route around your town and select 5 different stops, along with a final meeting place. You will then need to select someone who is impartial to travel around these stops to deliver the playing cards. The key here is that you want someone to deliver the cards, just in the same way that a dealer does so that nobody can be accused of cheating and choosing the best cards. You will also need to think about the variant of poker that you will play when you reach the meeting point. It doesn’t matter whether you choose pineapple, HORSE or Omaha, so long as you agree before you set off so that you all know what you are aiming for.

Once you have decided your route, determined the variant of poker that you will be playing and delivered your cards it is time for the fun to begin. You could all set off at the same time or leave a gap and have someone time you so that you know who arrived at the meeting point in the quickest time. You should also make sure that you have an impartial friend wait for you at the meeting place to act as a judge. The get out there and have some fun.
